The role

We are looking for an experienced and qualified Digital tutor, to teach on our Essential Digital, Functional Digital Skills and Advanced Digital courses from entry level 3 to level 2 with a start date in February 2025. Our Digital department has grown rapidly in the last two years so there may be further hours available in September 2025.

You need to inspire and provide a transformative education to our adult learners (19+) from in and around London. You will be responsible for providing teaching, learning, and assessments on our Digital provision, and monitoring learners’ performance with opportunities to support them.

You will be responsible for delivering all elements of the programme, providing support and guidance to the learners, ensuring they are challenged, and inspired, complete their work in a timely manner, and excel in achievement.

Computing and Digital department at WAES consists of digital skills for work and technical applied computing courses taught by course leaders and tutors to diverse learner groups over our three sites in Westminster. Predominantly teaching accredited courses at entry level 3 to level 5 and Skills Bootcamps as we are the lead Mayoral Academy for Westminster.

Key responsibilities

  • Designing resources for and delivering to our adult learners, in line with curriculum and qualification requirements ensuring our learners are inspired, challenged, and achieve,
  • Preparing learners for summative and formative assessments as part of the learners’ journey including Essential Digital Skills and Digital Functional Skills exams.
  • Tracking learner’s progress through timely and accurate reporting
  • Liaising with relevant stakeholders and fellow Digital teaching staff
  • Ensuring an ‘outstanding’ teaching and learning experience including Individual Learning Plans and quality assurance implementation and feedback.
  • Supporting the Digital curriculum where required, for example, course advice and guidance for prospective learners.

About you

  • Relevant experience and industry knowledge of current Essential Digital and Functional Skills specification.
  • Knowledge of Gateway examination board is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience of teaching adults on accredited courses.
  • Proven ability to work with diverse groups of learners across mixed abilities to ensure their successful progression and achievement.
  • You must have a qualification in the subject area at Level 3 or above.
  • You must hold a teaching qualification at least at Level 3.
  • You must be free on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
  • Commitment to outstanding teaching and the learner experience.
  • Commitment to your own professional development.
