We are seeking to appoint a University Practitioner in Game Art.
The School of Computing & Engineering is a research-intensive environment where academics developing tomorrow’s technology teach the next generation of computing and engineering professionals.
Building on our legacy of producing award-winning graduates in Artificial Intelligence (AI), computing, computer game development, and cyber security, we have a strategy for expansion that requires the very best academic staff.
We’ll support your growth in developing and applying your new ideas. We’ll help you develop as an academic, and we’ll provide opportunities for you to grow your career and become the best version of yourself.
As University Practitioner in Game Art, you will have an emerging record of industrial/professional and/or research outputs that are relevant to the post and a Masters degree in a related area. You will have experience of working with diverse teams, and you’ll be able to translate this into a teaching experience that is unparalleled in the university sector. You will be looking to develop your skills and experience working alongside university students. You will also demonstrate your drive to achieve excellence.
You will want to accelerate your personal and career growth by immersing yourself in a stimulating environment. You will also crave a supportive environment that expects you to succeed, and you’ll have a clear vision of a rewarding and fulfilling career.
You will be required to demonstrate professional activity that is relevant to the role, and we are particularly interested in candidates who are active in two or more of the following areas:
- Character/environment/ technical art
- Game development lifecycle
- Complex game asset development
- Game art pipelines
- Industry-standard art tools and software e.g. Adobe Creative Suite, Autodesk Suite, ZBrush, - Blender and other relevant software
- Theoretical principles such as composition and colour theory
As a Practitioner we expect you to be actively engaged in practice in addition to your role at the University. This can be either through paid employment with another employer, paid consultancy or freelance work.
You’ll be fully committed to equal opportunities and demonstrate an inquisitive attitude towards novel and engaging approaches to research and teaching.
The University is deeply committed to equality and diversity for all its students and staff. We seek to be diverse and inclusive, supporting individuals and groups to fulfil their potential and nurture a sense of belonging. We strive to be an accessible, inclusive employer, removing barriers for all.
