We are the University of Cumbria, for and from Cumbria and our localities, rooted in serving our communities, with people, place and partnership at our heart.
Now is a very exciting time to be joining us as we embark on a range of significant projects that deliver our "Towards 2030" strategy. The strategy focuses on making the most of our three most valuable assets; People, Place and Partnerships, to become a catalyst for economic well-being for our region, nationally and internationally.
We have a vacancy for a University Solicitor to provide high level specialist legal advice in the support of the delivery of the University’s strategy. With extensive experience in the provision of contractual and legal advice, you will take the lead on and manage a complex and varied workload, needing to build strong, productive relationships with stakeholders (at all levels) across the University and with external partners.
Your approach will be flexible and adaptable, and you will bring significant legal experience, knowledge, and skills across the areas of contracts and commercial, regulatory and compliance. You will manage the contract with the University's external legal advisors for matters where external input is required, ensuring that actionable advice is provided to managers across the University in an efficient and effective manner.
We welcome applications from lawyers looking to develop their career in-house in a unique environment. Whilst the focus of the role is commercial contracts, there are opportunities to get involved in providing wider legal advice to the University both directly and in managing the provision of specialist external advice.
We can offer the role as full-time or part-time, with the minimum being 0.6FTE.
