Liverpool John Moores University is one of the largest UK universities with 27,000 students in Liverpool and a further 21,000 students studying abroad. This is a modern forward-looking university with a unique footprint in the city region seeking to make a positive difference in the world through our research, teaching and community impact.
Shaped by the city in which we thrive, we are proud of the part we play in transforming the lives of our students who come to the university to realise their dreams and find purpose in their disciplines. We are passionate about the communities we support both at home and abroad, working in partnership to improve lives and raise aspirations through collaborative programmes of research, leadership and innovative practice.
Through our strategic plan we have outlined our ambitions to 2030 and we are now seeking to appoint an experienced Finance Director to help us drive forward the thematic imperatives around a transformational change agenda. Our Finance Director will shape and lead our financial vision, ensuring effective financial management alongside embedding a culture of financial ownership and accountability.
As well as being a qualified accountant with sound knowledge of and competence in all key finance and accounting processes and with a proven track record of leading financial services in a large, complex organisation, the successful candidate will have strong people management skills and an ability to lead large teams through periods of significant change. Experience of working in Higher Education, or an understanding of the changing dynamics in the sector would be advantageous but is not essential. Our Finance Director will be a member of the Executive Leadership Team and will report directly to the Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive, therefore excellent relationship management and communication skills along with an ability to work collaboratively in an environment of collegiate responsibility is key.
We offer an outstanding benefits package including generous annual leave entitlement, excellent pension schemes, induction and development support as well as family-friendly policies.
