The School of Criminal Justice

The School of Criminal Justice at Arden delivers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in criminology and cybercrime with joint programmes in psychology and law. Our criminology courses are global in scope, and we have a diverse and international student body who study at Arden University because of the flexibility that our degrees offer. We also place a strong emphasis on employability skills and active, authentic learning to enable our graduates to compete both nationally and internationally within and beyond the criminal justice sector.

The Role – Lecturer in Criminal Justice

As a Lecturer in Criminal Justice, you will report into one of our Senior Lecturers. In your role as Lecturer you will:

  • Deliver engaging and dynamic lectures both face-to-face and online for our blended and distance learning students.
  • Take on module leadership, ensuring consistent quality and development of learning materials and schemes of work.
  • Oversee assessment marking, create authentic assessments, and provide high-quality feedback.
  • Lead or support the creation of new programmes and refresh existing ones to align with industry trends and employer requirements.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to provide academic advice and support to students.
  • Drive innovation in teaching methods, student support, and assessment techniques.

** You will be expected to go to the campus 3-4 days a week to suit the student timetable.

About You:

Essential Skills / Experience

  • You will be qualified to postgraduate level in Criminology or related subjects - Sociology, Psychology, Law.
  • You should have experience teaching HE-level students.

Desirable Skills / Experience

  • A PhD level qualification in Criminology or a closely related field, or significant progress towards its completion.
  • Ideally, you will hold FHEA or an equivalent teaching qualification. However, we are prepared to support the successful candidate in obtaining a recognised HE teaching Qualification and advanced HE Fellowship at the appropriate level.
