Offered in partnership with the University of Cambridge's Department of Art History, this is an excellent opportunity to gain experience and develop your research portfolio in a thriving cultural and research institution.
The successful candidate will be a pro-active and knowledgeable postdoctoral researcher or Early Career Researcher, whose expertise in the histories of sculpture will complement that of the Research Team at the Henry Moore Studios & Gardens and will form a key element of our public programmes. The candidate will demonstrate a range of research, writing and communication skills, and will work both as part of the Research Team and independently. A current institutional affiliation is not necessary for the post.
Offered in partnership with the University of Cambridge, the post-holder will provide at least eight hours of teaching for the Department of History of Art and will be granted the status of Affiliated Lecturer. This will provide the post-holder with access to the academic community of postdoctoral researchers and PhD students, the University Library, a departmental mentor, and opportunities for teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
The candidate will be expected to deliver a specific research project within the two-year term, relating to the post-holder’s area of specialism. We are looking for proposals with a specific focus on aspects of the life and work of Henry Moore or in which the study of Moore is a significant component. We encourage applications from applicants working on new and under-represented perspectives on Moore’s work or archive, and in related areas such as his reception, influence, exhibition histories and global contexts. The candidate will have full use of the resources available in the on-site Henry Moore Archive, access to the Foundation’s collection and support of the wider Collections and Programmes team.
Our successful candidate will have completed or have passed their PhD Viva in Art History or a related subject. They will have a detailed knowledge of sculpture and its histories and will demonstrate a commitment to diversity and inclusivity.
If you are excited by this opportunity and, having read the job specification, you have the skills and experience to meet the requirements of the role, we would be pleased to receive the following from you:
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to submit a complete research proposal of around 1,500 words comprising a 1000-word research proposal and a 500-word timeline and strategy.
