Associate Tutor (Placement) Secondary Education (Drama Subject Specialism) - University of Edinburgh Careers

The Opportunity:

We are recruiting for an Associate Tutor (Placement) Secondary Education (Drama Subject Specialism). The role will predominantly focus on supporting and assessing students as part of their placement experience. The post-holder will be appointed on a guaranteed hours’ basis and specific duties will be allocated in discussion with the Programme Director and Drama tutor depending on qualifications and relevant experience.

The post may be split between multiple candidates depending on applicant suitability.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • GTCS registered teacher of Drama with a proven record of Learning, Teaching and Assessment from S1-6.  You will have a thorough knowledge of the curriculum and experience teaching a range of courses in the Senior Phase.
  • Excellent communication skills.  You will be working with students and staff in the placement schools to ensure that good mentoring relationships are set up and students are given the opportunities necessary to meet the GTCS Standards for Provisional Registration.
  • Excellent IT skills. The main method of communication with students whilst on placement is via Microsoft OneNote.
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel. Visits are arranged over two weeks in November, March and May.
  • Our students are placed in schools all over Scotland (not easily accessible via public transport) and so a driving licence is essential and ability to stay overnight away from home when necessary (travel expenses are covered).
  • Ability to work independently, contact students and schools, organise a visit schedule and meet Board of Examiner’s deadlines for all documentation.
  • The successful applicant will require a PVG Level 2.
