The opportunity

Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London, is seeking highly skilled and experienced academic practitioners to join BA Fine Art as Lecturers across our 2D, 3D, and XD Pathways.

Our pathway structure encourages students to both specialise and develop interdisciplinary practices through sustained critical engagement. As a Lecturer, you will play a key role in teaching, assessment, and curriculum development, working closely with Programme colleagues and the wider College community.

About the course

BA Fine Art is an established and globally respected course that has influenced and informed practice and research across a breadth of intellectual and creative territories. It recognises the diverse social, political, cultural, economic and technological contexts in which contemporary art is made and exhibited.

The course is organised into four studios: 2D, 3D, 4D, and XD. We are seeking Lecturers within the following areas:

  • 2D: Focuses on how making is informed by contemporary culture, politics, and social forms, alongside the image, abstraction, screen, picture plane, and surface as fundamental aspects of visual production.
  • 3D: Explores matter, scale, space, and hybrid production processes, challenging conventional understandings of the studio, exhibition, and institutional spaces.
  • XD:  Explores the possibilities of not only ‘what does art mean?’ but ‘what can art do?’ and ‘where can art be?’, engaging critically with audiences, communities, and environments.

About you

You are an experienced academic practitioner with a strong track record in contemporary fine art practice and education. You have experience teaching and assessing students in a Higher Education environment and hold a relevant undergraduate degree or can demonstrate equivalent professional experience.

There are four permanent, part-time posts. Please clearly state which pathway(s) you are applying for in your application.

  • 3 x 0.5 FTE Lecturers in Fine Art (2D, 3D or XD)
  • 1 x 0.8 FTE Lecturer in Fine Art (XD)

In your supporting statement, please include:

  • A paragraph or two explaining your interest in the role.
  • How your skills, experience, and interests align with the post.
  • How you meet the requirements in the person specification.
