We are seeking to appoint an experienced Senior Operations and Programme Manager to oversee the delivery of a multi-project scientific programme at the Centre for Genomic Pathogen Surveillance, Pandemic Science Institute, Nuffield Department of Medicine.
Focussed on the delivery of capacity, new technology, including genomics, and driven to make an impact in supporting countries and nations within the fight against infectious disease, CGPS host the NIHR Global Health Research Unit on Genomic Surveillance of AMR, working in tandem with partners in Nigeria, India, Colombia and The Philippines to exemplify approaches to surveillance which can be adopted elsewhere. This aligns with the development of strategy within the CGPS hosted World Health Organisation (WHO) Collaborating Centre on Genomic Surveillance of AMR.
We are looking for a experienced individual to manage and grow strategies, and support efforts to rollout our projects.
You will be responsible for leading a large portfolio of multi-year scientific and global health projects, and you will support and drive CGPS interactions with international stakeholders, as well as representatives from national and international public health bodies, including the World Health Organisation. You will be responsible for organising and chairing meetings, committees, and working groups related to the program and playing a leading role in growing external networks and cross-sector initiatives to benefit CGPS and the University.
To be successful in this role, you will hold a postgraduate degree with demonstrable experience in leading and managing complex scientific projects/programmes successfully, or be educated to an undergraduate level with an excellent and extensive track record of leading and managing successful scientific projects/programmes. You will have the ability to demonstrate leadership of a large and complex programme, for example, with multiple stakeholders, multi-disciplinary teams, multiple budgets, and regulatory complexity. You will be highly organised with the ability to manage a vast amount of relatively complex information and to prioritise a demanding workload with competing deadlines.
Applications for this vacancy should be made online and you will need to upload a supporting statement and CV. Your supporting statement must explain how you meet each of the selection criteria for the post using examples of your skills and experience. Please restrict your documentation to your CV and supporting statement only. Any other documents will be requested at a later date.
This position is offered full time on a fixed term contract for 2 years and is funded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR).
