Foundation Studies is a well-established area of Uxbridge College, and offers provision and support for students with a range of learning difficulties and disabilities. This newly created post will be based at Barra Hall in Hayes, our new SEND centre which will be opening in September 2025. This welcoming new campus will provide a high-quality inclusive learning environment for over 60 SEND students, and improve outcomes for students with special educational needs, including those with severe learning needs (SLD). Barra Hall will have modern, and accessible facilities available across two floors and will include on site therapies, sensory room, medical services and multi-disciplinary teams, with classrooms featuring the latest technologies.
Reporting to the Head of School for Supported Learning, you would lead the development and management of provision based at Barra Hall. You would line manage academic and support staff within the Section and would teach on a range of programmes.
You should be qualified to degree level or equivalent, with a Level 5 teaching qualification recognised by the FE sector. You will have a minimum of 3 years’ successful recent teaching experience in Supported Learning (SEND) together with curriculum management/co-ordination experience. You will need to be conversant with current provision for students with Learning Difficulties and Disabilities including the SEND Code of Practice, with good understanding of Functional Skills and RARPA. You will have good leadership skills with experience of managing or supervising a team in Further Education or in a similar setting.
