Do you want to use your skills in Employee Relations to play a vital role in inspiring the next generation of students in a world leading university?
The University of Southampton’s mission is to change the world for the better. As a world-leading, research-intensive university, with a strong and high-quality educational offering, it is renowned for its innovation and enterprise and sits within the top 100 Universities worldwide.
We are looking for two enthusiastic HR professionals to join our employee relations team.
The roles
We have two fixed term opportunities, one for 6 months, full time, and one for 2 years offered on a part time basis at 0.8FTE.
The role is accountable for employee relations casework and consultations to achieve appropriate resolution, balancing the interests and needs of both the individual and the business. Employee Relations Managers provide interpretive advice to ensure compliance with University employment procedures and employment legislation. The role will work closely with the HR Business Partner, senior management and the University's recognised trade unions, to deliver and support the case management of employee relations issues.
What we’re looking for
Our successful candidates will be passionate about employee relations, and ideally have previous experience working in a similar role, with up to date knowledge of employee relations best practice and the application of employment legislation. You will have the ability to take a proactive and leading role in progressing case work, and be a strong team player who can work well across different teams.
You will be able to demonstrate a proven ability to guide stakeholders through the management of complex and potentially contentious employee relations issues, whilst effectively being able to plan, manage and prioritise an extensive and varied caseload and/or workload to agreed deadlines and quality standards.
What we can offer you
Based at our lively Highfield campus, you will have access to our newly refurbished sports complex, Hartley Library and Staff Social Centre. We work flexibly from the office on campus as well as from home, according to the case work requirements and demands.
We offer some fantastic benefits including 44 days leave per year (inclusive of bank holidays and University closure days), options for flexible working, excellent family leave arrangements (including maternity, paternity, adoption, parental and carers leave), a wide variety of on and off-campus arts and culture facilities and access to a range of staff discounts and offers at local shops, restaurants and service providers.
If you would like an informal conversation or further information about the role, please contact Tara Crawley, Employee Relations Manager, T.Crawley@soton.ac.uk.
Interviews will commence shortly after the closing date.
