The Hatter Cardiovascular Institute (HCI) is part of the UCL’s Institute of Cardiovascular Science (ICS). The HCI is internationally renowned for its pioneering research investigating ways to protect the ischaemic heart from injury and continues to lead research in the areas of cardioprotection.
About the role
Applications are invited for two 1.0 FTE Research Fellow posts funded by a 5 year British Heart Foundation grant, investigating PI3 kinase isoforms in acute cardioprotection and neuroprotection. The research programme will specifically focus on a novel, direct, intracellular activator of PI3Kα called UCL-TRO-1938, which has been developed by our team and has shown to significantly reduce injury in the heart and brain.
About you
Although we expect the potential postholder to be proficient in a variety of laboratory-based skills he/she will receive expert training in relevant areas of re search, should that be necessary. The post holder would also be expected to help supervise PhD students; attend weekly group research meetings and monthly research seminars and journal clubs. There is also the potential to attend national and international conferences in the relevant areas of research interest. UCL also offers a wide range of training courses
