Be a Digital Trailblazer in Social Sciences Education
City St George’s, University of London is the University of business, practice and the professions and brings together the expertise and excellence of City, University of London and St George’s, University of London into one institution. The combined university is now one of the largest higher education destinations for London students, combining a breadth of disciplines across health, business, policy, law, creativity, communications, science and technology. Our students are at the heart of everything that we do, and we are committed to supporting them to pursue their career and personal ambitions.
The School of Policy and Global Affairs (SPGA) at City St George’s is inviting applications for innovative and digitally minded academics to join us as Digital Champions within our three departments: Economics, International Politics, and Sociology & Criminology. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of digital learning and research in one of London’s most forward-thinking academic environments.
SPGA is a vibrant and diverse academic community, home to over 2,500 students and 100 staff. With a reputation for transformative education and world-class research, the School is committed to public service and creating a lasting impact on society. Each of our departments boasts internationally recognised strengths, from our top-ranked Sociology and Criminology programmes to the thriving research culture in International Politics and the dynamic, interdisciplinary work within Economics.
As a Digital Champion, you will take a leading role in advancing our digital teaching and research strategies. You will design high-quality, student-centred digital learning materials, contribute to the development of asynchronous learning experiences, and mentor colleagues to build digital capacity across the School. You will also serve as a bridge between academic departments and the university’s digital services, helping to shape City St George’s broader digital strategy. This will be an exciting opportunity, to be part of a cadre of digital champions across SPGA that can be an effective stakeholder and business partner with City’s professional services working in the digital space. In particular, the digital champions will canvass the opinion of colleagues and use their own expertise to provide meaningful technical advice and feedback on proposed investment in digital platforms across the University’s digital strategy.
In addition to your digital leadership, you will contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, supervise students, and take on appropriate administrative and leadership responsibilities. Candidates on the Education & Research track will also be expected to maintain an active research profile. We are particularly interested in those whose research interests align with areas such as digital sociology, platform governance, online safety, mis/disinformation, or content moderation.
This is your chance to join a dynamic, future-facing institution at a critical time for the evolution of digital education. Help us build a digitally empowered academic community that reflects and responds to the challenges of a rapidly changing world.
