School of Journalism and Communication

The School of Journalism and Communication of Nanjing University originated from the "Film and Broadcasting Specialty" founded by Jinling University, one of the predecessors of Nanjing University, in 1936. It is the earliest film and broadcasting education unit in China and the origin of higher education in audio-visual communication in China. The school currently has doctoral and master's programs in the first-level discipline of journalism and communication, and has three departments: Radio, Film and Television, Applied Communication, and News and New Media, as well as multiple research institutions such as Network Communication, Communication and Society, News and Politics, Media Economics and Management, Computational Communication Research Center, News Innovation Laboratory, Sino-German Digital Marketing Laboratory, X-space Marketing Creative Workshop, and Nanjing University-Stanford Intelligent Communication Center. Since becoming one of the first batch of journalism schools jointly established by the ministry and the university in 2013, the school has actively explored and innovated management under the direct leadership of the Propaganda Department of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee and Nanjing University. The discipline of journalism and communication has achieved excellent results in the fifth round of discipline evaluation by the Ministry of Education, and has been selected as a key (cultivation) discipline of Jiangsu Province in the first-level discipline of the "13th Five-Year Plan" and a project-approved discipline in the third phase of the Jiangsu University Advantage Discipline Construction Project. It is at the leading level in China in the fields of communication theory, communication history and media history research, new media communication research, and media-oriented social research.

Recruitment Position Setting

The School of Journalism and Communication of Nanjing University invites applicants to join in major research directions in journalism and communication. Recruitment research directions include:

  1. Journalism Theory
  2. Computational Propagation
  3. Health Communication
  4. Media Sociology

Application Requirements

  1. Commitment to academic teaching and research, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
  2. High standards of professional conduct, including adherence to teaching and research ethics; no history of criminal convictions or academic misconduct.
  3. Strong academic background: Ph.D. in a closely related field. Candidates should have experience studying and working in leading research institutions, with a demonstrated record of academic excellence.
  4. Proven teaching ability, including the capacity to deliver core and advanced courses effectively. Candidates should be familiar with modern teaching methodologies and possess strong verbal communication skills.
  5. Demonstrated research excellence and potential for continued academic development: a solid record of innovative research with international visibility and a clear and ambitious research agenda.

  1. Three letters of recommendation (generally from doctoral supervisors, academic leaders of current work units, and well-known scholars in the field);
  2. Detailed resume (in Chinese and English);
  3. Three representative works (generally papers or monographs that have been officially published or published online before the recruitment announcement deadline and have DOI numbers, and the full text must be uploaded);
  4. Other relevant attachments proving academic achievements.

Salary and related packages

  1. Public institution establishment (except for foreign personnel);
