Introduction to the Institute

The Institute of Functional Materials and Intelligent Manufacturing of Nanjing University was established in June 2022. It is located in the Suzhou Campus of Nanjing University and is one of the first new research institutes built by Nanjing University. Closely relying on the School of Modern Engineering and Applied Sciences of Nanjing University and the State Key Laboratory of Solid Microstructure Physics, the Institute is guided by the development trend and needs of "new engineering" and actively promotes the development of "materials science and engineering", a discipline of "double first-class" construction of Nanjing University.

The Institute aims to build a world-class new engineering integrated innovation platform and a high-level engineering talent training base. The main research areas include cutting-edge directions such as functional materials and devices, functional perception and system application, intelligent manufacturing and extreme manufacturing. Through in-depth exploration of these research areas, the Institute is committed to achieving outstanding results in the fields of functional materials and intelligent manufacturing, contributing to the development of new engineering, and also providing solid support for the training of the next generation of comprehensive engineering talents. 

Recruitment Position Setting

The Institute of Functional Materials and Intelligent Manufacturing of Nanjing University invites global candidates to join.

 The main research directions for recruitment are:

  1. Functional materials and functional perception
  2. Spintronic materials and device engineering
  3. Metamaterials and device engineering
  4. Energy materials and systems engineering
  5. Digital Materials and Material Design
  6. Materials processing and advanced manufacturing technology 

Application Requirements

  1. Commitment to academic teaching and research, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
  2. High standards of professional conduct, including adherence to teaching and research ethics; no history of criminal convictions or academic misconduct.
  3. Strong academic background: Ph.D. in a closely related field. Candidates should have experience studying and working in leading research institutions, with a demonstrated record of academic excellence.
    1. For tenure-track Assistant Professor roles, ideally, at least two years of postdoctoral research experience.
    2. For tenure-track Associate Professor roles, ideally, at least four years of postdoctoral research experience.
  4. Proven teaching ability, including the capacity to deliver core and advanced courses effectively. Candidates should be familiar with modern teaching methodologies and possess strong verbal communication skills.
  5. Demonstrated research excellence and potential for continued academic development: a solid record of innovative research with international visibility and a clear and ambitious research agenda.

Salary and related packages
