The Role

Counselling sits within the School of Education, Language and Psychology. Our programmes and our philosophy as a subject area sit firmly in a humanistic tradition. Our reputation is based on a successful history that spans almost 40 years of offering humanistic counsellor training that has national acclaim for excellence. Our provision incorporates a BA in Counselling and Mental Health, and postgraduate courses including a Certificate in Counselling Skills, and the PG Dip/MA in Humanistic Counselling and Person-Centred Experiential Counselling for Depression both of which are accredited by the BACP. An integral part of our subject area is the YSJ Communities Centre. We work collaboratively with partners a wide range of placement providers. Our commitment to social justice is at the heart of all that we do.

Required skills and experience

Our team is expanding, and we are seeking to recruit an inspiring and enthusiastic 0.5FTE Senior Lecturer to teach and lead modules on a range of programmes. The successful candidate must hold a humanistic counselling qualification and be a member of a relevant professional body, such as BACP or UKCP. In addition, it is desirable that the successful candidate holds, or is currently studying for a PhD. Candidates will have experience of teaching counselling to undergraduate and postgraduate students. The successful candidate should have experience of delivering high-quality teaching to undergraduate and postgraduate counselling students and should be fully committed to providing an excellent and inclusive student experience.
