College Introduction
Nanjing University Nanjing Helsinki School of Atmospheric and Earth System Sciences (abbreviated as "Nanjing Helsinki School") is a Sino-foreign cooperatively-run institution jointly established by Nanjing University and the University of Helsinki, Finland, and was officially approved by the Ministry of Education in April 2022. As the first Sino-foreign cooperatively-run institution in China to implement undergraduate, master's and doctoral education at multiple levels around the major of atmospheric science, Nanjing Helsinki School has the right to confer degrees at the corresponding levels of Nanjing University and the University of Helsinki.
Based on the high-level international scientific research cooperation between the two universities in the field of atmosphere and earth system science for more than ten years, and relying on the highly complementary disciplinary advantages and characteristics of the two universities in related fields, the Nanhe College will further achieve a strong alliance through joint teaching, joint training, joint management and other mechanisms, and strive to cultivate a group of top talents with outstanding knowledge, innovative spirit and international vision. The college will aim at responding to international scientific frontiers such as climate change and sustainable development and major national needs, expand the advantages of the two universities in the field of traditional atmospheric science, focus on the cross-disciplinary integration and innovation of atmospheric science and artificial intelligence, social economy, ecological health and other disciplines, and jointly create a new, full-scale atmospheric and earth system science research and talent training system.
Nanhe College has officially started recruiting the first batch of undergraduate, master's and doctoral students in 2023, and will carry out training mainly based on the Suzhou campus of Nanjing University.
