Applications are invited for an appointment as Lecturer in English (Specific-Purpose Contract circa 6 months) in the School of English, Media and Creative Arts at University of Galway. This post is to cover teaching buyout for a colleague who will be working on an externally funded research project. The modules to be covered include North American Fiction, Twentieth-Century Fiction, Literature and Ideas, and Travel Literature. The candidate’s research specialism may be in any area, but the successful candidate must demonstrate capacity to teach these modules.
The School of English, Media and Creative Arts comprises the Disciplines of English, Drama, Film & Digital Media, Music, and Journalism & Media. The Discipline of English teaches 1,000 students, including 60 MA students and 20 PhD students. We teach a broad undergraduate curriculum and we run three undergraduate programmes: BA in English (joint honours), BA in English and Creative Writing, and BA in Digital Arts and Technology. We run three taught MA programmes: MA in Writing, MA in Literature and Publishing, MA in English, as well as contributing to other MA programmes in the School. We are currently ranked in the Top 150 internationally for English in the QS World University Rankings.
