School Introduction
The integrated circuit discipline at Nanjing University originated from the first semiconductor physics major jointly run by five universities in China in 1956. Over the past 60 years, it has continued to develop and achieved fruitful results.
The School of Integrated Circuits was established in 2022 and is one of the first colleges built in the Suzhou campus. At the new historical starting point, the college takes the fundamental mission of cultivating talents in the field of chips and promoting national self-reliance in science and technology, giving full play to the advantages of Nanjing University's basic disciplines, and creating a new model demonstration zone for new engineering schools through multidisciplinary cross-disciplinary and industrial cooperation. Relying on the first-level cross-disciplinary "Integrated Circuit Science and Engineering", the college focuses on the development of micro-nano electronic science, devices and manufacturing processes, integrated optoelectronics, materials and equipment, integrated circuit design, packaging and system integration, focusing on core tasks such as high-end integrated circuit chip design, new materials and devices for post-Moore integrated circuits, wide bandgap semiconductor materials and devices, and cross-research on artificial intelligence and integrated circuits, and carries out organized scientific research in collaboration between schools and enterprises.
The college has developed rapidly since its establishment. It currently has the first batch of doctoral programs and postdoctoral mobile stations in the country for the first-level discipline of integrated circuit science and engineering. In May 2021, it was approved to build the "National Integrated Circuit Industry-Education Integration Innovation Platform"; in December 2021, it was selected as a key discipline of Jiangsu Province in the "14th Five-Year Plan"; in June 2022, it was approved to build the Jiangsu Integrated Circuit Advanced Process Engineering Technology Joint Laboratory, which is the first batch of laboratories approved in Jiangsu Province; in December 2022, it was approved to establish the National Key Laboratory of Spin Chips and Technology; in December 2023, with the support of Yachen Fund, it was approved to establish the "Nanjing University Future Intelligent Chip Cross-Research Center"; in 2023, it was selected as the "Jiangsu University Advantage Discipline Construction Project Phase IV Project". The college has built a number of major national and provincial and ministerial scientific research platforms, and has carried out in-depth cooperation with national laboratories. The college explores a new paradigm of industry-education integration for the cultivation of new engineering talents, and has established joint postgraduate training bases with a number of leading integrated circuit companies to cultivate students' practical ability and support the sustained and high-quality development of the integrated circuit industry.
