School Introduction
The School of History of Nanjing University originated from the National History Department of Sanjiang Normal School established in 1902. In 1952, when the schools and departments were adjusted, the former School of History of Central University, the Department of Frontier Politics and the History Department of Jinling University were merged to form the History Department of Nanjing University. In December 2014, the History Department was abolished and the School of History of Nanjing University was established, which consists of three departments: the Department of Chinese History, the Department of World History and the Department of Archaeology and Cultural Relics, as well as academic institutions such as the Research Center for the History of the Republic of China, the Institute of New Chinese History, the Institute of International Relations and the Institute of Chinese Border Policy.
The School of History currently has three first-level disciplines: Chinese History, World History, and Archaeology, which have been ranked among the best in all previous discipline assessments. The school has a high-level teaching team with a total size of about 80 people. The School of History has a long history of running schools, strong faculty, a complete system for cultivating undergraduate, master and doctoral talents, excellent teaching and research conditions, attaches great importance to the construction of the teaching staff, and fully supports the development of young talents.
