College Introduction

The School of Environment at Nanjing University has been ranked among the top in all previous subject evaluations by the Ministry of Education, and has been selected as a national "Double First-Class Construction" subject. It ranks first among global universities in the 2024 Nature Index for "Earth and Environmental Sciences". The discipline consists of three departments: Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, and Environmental Planning and Management (Nanjing Campus), as well as the Institute of Environment and Health (Suzhou Campus, for recruitment information, please see the "2025 Recruitment Announcement for Prospective and Permanent Faculty Positions at the Institute of Environment and Health at Nanjing University").

The discipline has a first-class faculty. There are more than 90 full-time teachers, including 2 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 21 national high-level talent programs, 40 national youth talent programs, and 6 innovation groups or teams of the National Natural Science Foundation of China/Ministry of Education/Ministry of Science and Technology/Jiangsu Province/Sinopec Association. It has established the National Natural Science Foundation of China's "Water Quality Risk Control Engineering" Basic Science Center, co-built the National Natural Science Foundation of China's "Energy and Climate Change" Basic Science Center, the National Key Laboratory of Water Pollution Control and Green Resource Cycle, the National Engineering Technology Research Center for Organic Toxic Pollutant Control and Resource Utilization, the National Environmental Science and Engineering Experimental Teaching Center, the National Social Economic Environment System Virtual Simulation Experimental Teaching Center, the National Technical Standard Innovation Base, and 6 provincial and ministerial platforms, 14 school-local joint platforms, and holds a listed company. 

Recruitment Position Setting

We are recruiting Assistant Professor or Associate Professor. The research directions of the positions to be recruited include:

  1. Identification and control of environmental health risks
  2. Environmental standards and equipment
  3. Smart environment and big data
  4. Multidisciplinary environmental science and technology frontier 

Application Requirements

  1. Commitment to academic teaching and research, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
  2. High standards of professional conduct, including adherence to teaching and research ethics; no history of criminal convictions or academic misconduct.
  3. Strong academic background: Ph.D. in a closely related field. Candidates should have experience studying and working in leading research institutions, with a demonstrated record of academic excellence.
    1. For tenure-track Assistant Professor roles, ideally, at least two years of postdoctoral research experience.
    2. For tenure-track Associate Professor roles, ideally, at least four years of postdoctoral research experience.
  4. Proven teaching ability, including the capacity to deliver core and advanced courses effectively. Candidates should be familiar with modern teaching methodologies and possess strong verbal communication skills.
  5. Demonstrated research excellence and potential for continued academic development: a solid record of innovative research with international visibility and a clear and ambitious research agenda.

  1. Three letters of recommendation, which must include the doctoral supervisor and postdoctoral supervisor (if any);
  2. Detailed resume (including a list of published academic achievements);
  3. Three representative works (generally papers or monographs that have been officially published or published online with DOI numbers before the recruitment announcement deadline, and the full text must be uploaded);
  4. Other relevant attachments that prove academic achievements.

Salary and related packages

  1. Public institution establishment (except for foreign personnel);
  2. Implement an annual salary system (details to be agreed upon separately);

  5. The school provides short-term turnover housing and housing subsidies, and the candidates can purchase commercial housing provided by the school at a preferential price;
