School Introduction
The School of Earth Sciences and Engineering at Nanjing University is one of the oldest and most talented geosciences schools in China. After a century of development, it has a full range of disciplines, strong comprehensive strength, and significant international influence. It has always been among the best in the Ministry of Education's discipline evaluations, and its "Geology" and "Mining Engineering" have been selected as national "Double First-Class" construction disciplines.
The college adheres to the development concept of "moving towards modernization, entering society, and going out of the earth", faces the scientific frontiers, national needs and social challenges, promotes interdisciplinary integration, builds a new discipline system, and strives to achieve the development goal of "domestic leading, world-class, and Nanjing University characteristics". At present, the college includes the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences, the Department of Water Sciences, and the Department of Geological Engineering and Information Technology. It has a high-level teaching team of about 130 people, including 6 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and about 50 national high-level talents. The college has multiple scientific research platforms such as the National Key Laboratory of Key Earth Material Cycle and Mineralization, the Key Laboratory of Surface Geochemistry of the Ministry of Education, and the Frontier Science Center of Key Earth Material Cycle, as well as the National Earth Science Teaching Demonstration Center. It has established long-term talent training and scientific research cooperation with dozens of universities and research institutions at home and abroad, and has a strong international influence.
