About the School

Nanjing University is a century-old school with a long history and high reputation. The predecessor of Nanjing University Law School was the Law School of National Central University during the period of the Republic of China. In 1952, as part of a nationwide adjustment of university faculties and departments, the Law School was merged with other universities. In 1981, Nanjing University resumed its Department of Law and started enrollment. In 1994, the department was changed to the School of Law. 

Nanjing University Law School has one undergraduate major. It also has nine master majors, including Jurisprudence, Legal History, Constitution and Administrative Law, Criminal Law, Civil and Commercial Law, Procedural Law, Economic Law, Environment and Resource Protection Law, and International Law. reputation at home and abroad. 

Nanjing University Law School establishes 11 research institutes, including the Sino-German Institute of Economic Law, the Institute of Economic Law, the Institute of Crime Prevention and Control, the Institute of Private Law, the Research Center for Codex Commentary, the Research Center for Chinese Legal Cases, the Research Center for Housing Policy and Real Estate Law, the Zijin Research Center of Intellectual Property Rights, the Research Center of Commercial Law, etc. Nanjing University Law Journal (formerly Nanjing University Law Review), Sino-German Legal Forum (formerly the Annual Journal of Sino-German Institute of Economic Law), and Case Review, all edited and published by the Law School, have had a great influence to academia. Since 1981, the Law School has published over three hundred monographs and textbooks and thousands of theses in major journals at home and abroad. These results have received numerous national and provincial awards.

Positions

The Law School of Nanjing University warmly invites talented individuals to join our faculty at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor.

The main research areas of open recruitment are:

  8. Environment and Resource Protection Law
  9. Legal History
  10. Civil and Commercial Law 

Qualifications

The applicant should

  1. Commitment to academic teaching and research, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
  2. High standards of professional conduct, including adherence to teaching and research ethics; no history of criminal convictions or academic misconduct.
  3. Strong academic background: Ph.D. in a closely related field. Candidates should have experience studying and working in leading research institutions, with a demonstrated record of academic excellence.
    1. For tenure-track Assistant Professor roles, ideally, at least two years of postdoctoral research experience.
    2. For tenure-track Associate Professor roles, ideally, at least four years of postdoctoral research experience.
  4. Proven teaching ability, including the capacity to deliver core and advanced courses effectively. Candidates should be familiar with modern teaching methodologies and possess strong verbal communication skills.
  5. Demonstrated research excellence and potential for continued academic development: a solid record of innovative research with international visibility and a clear and ambitious research agenda.

Compensation Package and Support

  1. Implement the annual salary system (the details shall be communicated separately).
  2. Qualification to supervise graduate students.
  3. The university provides short-term lodging and housing subsidies. Applicants recruited can purchase commercial housing offered by the university at a special discount.
  4. The university provides assistance with children's schooling at primary and secondary school levels.
