This is a part-time, job share role for an email marketer who wants to work across the whole brief. You’ll be involved in everything from editing copy and fine-tuning a visual layout, to segmenting audience data and reporting on engagement. The team doesn’t just send mail; we provide support and guidance to communications teams across the wider organisation.
There are opportunities to develop your skills – you’ll edit code, get into journey automation and collaborate on complex projects like event communications. But it’s not all technical – on another day you could be editing a GIF, sourcing imagery, writing copy or planning out a content calendar for one of our audiences.
We are a busy marketing department with a strong digital focus, and email is integral. The role centres around prospective students, but you will work with teams who speak to many different audiences, from local businesses to international contacts.
The variety in workload and collaborative partners makes it a fun and engaging role, for someone who wants to be involved in all aspects of email marketing.
About you
A background in digital marketing is essential, and the successful candidate will have a good understanding of modern digital media. You’ll have experience of writing and editing copy for a mobile phone screen, to convey a compelling message in just a few words, and will understand the importance of digital accessibility.
You’ll ideally have experience of working with editorial style guides, strong grammar and excellent attention to detail, to spot a typo or incorrect font. Knowledge of the Adobe Suite would be useful; you’ll be using Photoshop and Dreamweaver on occasion.
You’ll also need good organisational skills, as we often have multiple projects running together, and it will be important to keep your job-share partner and other stakeholders up to date and informed.
This is a semi-technical role. We’re not looking for a developer, but you should know why UTM codes are important, what <a> tags do, and be comfortable wrangling stats in Excel. You will sometimes need to explain complex ideas to less technical colleagues.
A working knowledge of GDPR would be an advantage
