The AI and Wellbeing Research Lead will take a pivotal role in designing, testing, implementing and embedding a bespoke stress identification and intervention system (SIIS), to help reduce workplace stress in call-handlers working in urgent care settings. The SIIS will blend psychological research with advanced innovative technologies, utilising machine learning and AI models/tools to predict workplace stressors and monitor employee well-being.  The project will also facilitate the development of IC24’s research capacity and capability.

The Role

Supported by a comprehensive project plan and academic experts at Leeds Beckett University, you will work with the team at IC24 to undertake the following list of tasks:

  • Analysis of business and technical requirements.
  • Scope, collate, review and report on existing and relevant data/literature in relation to worker stress and factors contributing to worker stress.
  • Stress identification through data collection, synthesis and reporting.
  • Identifying existing and/or new technology-based data sources to be used as stress indicators for machine learning modelling.
  • Validation of AI and machine learning models, encompassing data visualisation and analytics.
  • Design, develop, test, embed and evaluate digital tool.
  • Development of tools, frameworks, processes/procedures and training materials.

The Company

IC24 has been at the forefront of urgent care since the 1990s, delivering high-quality integrated urgent care (IUC) services to over 6 million patients, annually, including GP and dental-led out-of-hours services, NHS 111 call answering, clinical assessment services (CAS), and face-to-face support services.

The business has grown from a small group of GP co-operatives to a social enterprise, employing a team of over 1,000 professionals and offering urgent care services across Kent, Sussex, Essex, Norfolk and Gloucestershire. As a not-for-profit organisation, any surplus IC24 make is reinvested straight back into its people and patients, rather than being distributed to shareholders.

The role will be based at IC24’s offices in Norwich.

The Person

This is a unique role, spanning AI/Machine Learning and health psychology, as such applicants need to be able to demonstrate knowledge, skills and experience in both areas. Candidates should possess a Master’s degree in Computing, Software Development, Data Science or similar, with an active interest in occupational health psychology, OR, a Master’s degree in (Occupational) Health Psychology, Human Factors, Organisational/Occupational Psychology or Public Health, with a high level of computer literacy and applied knowledge of machine learning and AI.
