Queen’s Business School (QBS) is delighted to invite applications for a fully funded PhD studentship. This competitive scheme supports academically outstanding candidates proposing their own original research aligned with QBS’s disciplinary strengths.

Eligibility

  • Open to Home and International applicants
  • Applicants must secure support from a QBS academic supervisor prior to applying (potential supervisors can be found here: Academic Staff Profiles or Find a PhD Supervisor)
  • Proposals must be applicant-led, though supervisor consultation is expected
  • Not open to applicants with a doctoral degree, those already funded, or who have completed more than one year of full-time PhD study.

How to Apply

Step 1: Submit your application to the QBS PhD programme via the QUB portal and enter the code QBSPGR2025/26 in the funding section:

Step 2: Email the following documents to Louise Moss (l.moss@qub.ac.uk) by 20th June 2025:

  • Current CV (maximum 2 pages)
  • Two academic and/or professional references
  • Full academic transcripts
  • Personal statement outlining background and motivation
  • Research proposal (maximum 2,000 words)

Assessment Criteria

Applications are assessed by the QBS School Research Committee using a balanced scorecard:

  • 50% – Quality of Research Proposal: originality, clarity, feasibility, methodology, impact
  • 50% – Academic and Professional Background: qualifications, personal statement, and references

Applications scoring 80 or above (out of 100) will be considered for funding. Shortlisted candidates will be notified in late June 2025.
