The Opportunity:

We are looking a finance professional to deliver an outstanding finance business partnering service to our stakeholders in the Information Services Group. 

The Information Services Group (ISG) is one of the three professional services groups, of seven key budget areas within the University of Edinburgh.  It comprises nine distinct directorates with over 700 staff supporting the University's students, academics, researchers and colleagues, as well as members of the public.  ISG supply IT infrastructure and services, information security, library services, museums and collections, learning and teaching technologies & services, digital skills training support, web services, hardware and software management and remote learning capabilities. Through externally facing units, the Group also provides products and services to the wider research and education sectors. ISG is also a contributor to, and deliverer of, the University's wider strategy in areas such as digital transformation, data driven innovation and online & distance learning.

Finance Business Partners work closely with senior management teams providing strategic insight, analysis and advice to deliver sustainable financial performance aligned with the University’s 2030 Strategy. 

The team at ISG work with colleagues in respective directorates including Information Technology Infrastructure, Learning Teaching & Web as well as Library & University Collections.  

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Be a part-qualified or newly qualified accountant, preferably with a degree or HND in a relevant discipline with relevant experience.
  • Experience of managing projects and budgets and providing insightful analysis and advice to stakeholders
  • Proven written and oral communication skills and the ability to explain finance concepts and the implications of financial decision to stakeholders 
  • Good inter-personal and time management skills and able to influence others  
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and collaboratively to manage activities and projects
