The contract will be a fixed term 1 year appointment.

The role will be split with 50% of the time dedicated to DHVL activities, 20% to PG Cert and 30% clinical.

As a Clinical Innovation Fellow (CIF) you will play a key role in the clinical project management and delivery of evaluations within the Digital Health Validation Lab (DHVL). You will be responsible for tracking progress and providing final reports to the DHVL operations team.

The Clinical Innovation Fellow (CIF) is a core member of the Digital Health Validation Lab (DHVL) team as well as the relevant clinical team based on the QEUH Campus.

DHVL activities will be focused on evaluating a range of health technologies in collaboration with academic and industry partners. This will include facilitating access to appropriate clinical expertise, helping formulate research protocols, contributing to collaborative grant applications and to the successful delivery of projects across a range of clinical areas.

The CIF will also be expected to engage with relevant Research & Innovation personnel to ensure successful delivery from project inception to final reporting. The CIF will be supported by the DHVL operations team and will report to the Portfolio Manager and Clinical Director & Academic Lead.

Areas of current projects for example are:

  • Artificial intelligence for imaging interpretation
  • Medical technologies for stroke characterization
  • Case finding and optimization of risk stratification in Diabetes
  • Orthopaedic Surgical planning using digital tools
  • Respiratory device innovation for COPD care

Clinical activities will be in a clinical speciality in QEUH campus including but not limited to Medicine, Surgery, Orthopaedics, Paediatrics and Emergency Medicine. You will play a fundamental role in the clinical team gaining experience in all aspects of the selected departments care pathways. The relevant clinical department will train you, develop your clinical skills and knowledge and help you achieve your future career goals. You will take part in a relevant education programme which will provide you with the core teaching and supervision similar to that of a clinical fellow / junior doctor rota. The role will include 20% of time dedicated to achieving a PG Cert in health economics and health technology assessment. There will be the opportunity to attend and present at local and international meetings and to generate poster and publications aligned to innovation activity.
