Salary
The salary for the post is on a scale from £16,569 - £18,308 per annum (2024-25 rates, reviewed annually), depending on qualifications and experience, and membership of USS is offered. The lecturer may take a certain number of lunches and dinners free of charge during weeks 0 to 9 of each term. A research allowance and teaching book allowance are also offered, as well as access to a teaching room.
Jesus College, Oxford invites applications for a fixed-term six-hour Stipendiary Lecturership in Classics from 1 October 2025 until 30 September 2026. The successful candidate will teach Greek and Latin languages including unseens and prose translation in both languages with willingness to teach actively in the ancient languages. In addition, the lecturer will be expected to set and mark College examinations, to participate in the routine administration of Classics, including undergraduate Admissions, and to assist in the pastoral care of undergraduates reading the subject. Candidates should have a strong educational background, with a first degree in Classics or an equivalent qualification.
