The Myasthenia Research Group is based at the NDCN and led by PI and Associate Professor Dr Maria Isabel Leite, consultant neurologist at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (OUH). The group are investigating various aspects of autoimmune myasthenia conditions, including disease epidemiology, diagnosis, and management. Furthermore, they study the immunopathogenic mechanisms of the disease, and its association with autoantibodies and thymic malignancies.
The post-holder will gain an understanding of autoimmune myasthenia disorders and their relevant demographic, clinical, laboratory, and radiological aspects. This is a unique opportunity to support work producing data-driven insights into the epidemiology and real-world impact of myasthenia gravis, with the potential to inform care for people with myasthenia at national and international levels.
This is a full-time post based within an academic and clinical research setting. The post requires a high level of autonomy and the post-holder will need to show excellent initiative, interpersonal and organisational skills to support the Myasthenia Research Group research aims.
