The Nuffield Council on Bioethics is seeking an experienced researcher or policy professional to establish and lead the coordination of a new genomics network of stakeholders to help shape the future of genomic research and healthcare.

As Genomics Network Manager, you will play a vital role in working with the sector to identify, discuss and address areas of ethical and regulatory uncertainty, and develop resources that support responsible innovation in genomics.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Establishing and managing a cross-sector network and working group made up of diverse stakeholders including researchers, clinicians, patients, regulators, and policymakers
  • Designing and facilitating stakeholder workshops and working group meetings.
  • Conducting research and co-developing guidance on emerging ethical and regulatory issues.
  • Managing relationships with commissioners, collaborators, and the wider genomics community.
  • Translating complex issues into accessible outputs for policy, regulatory, clinical, and/or public audiences.

We are looking for someone with strong experience in research or policy development, ideally in genomics or a related field. You will have a proven ability to manage projects involving multiple stakeholders and be able to communicate complex ideas clearly and persuasively.

This role is based within NCOB but will work closely with the broader genomics community.

About us

The Nuffield Council on Bioethics (NCOB) is a leading independent policy and research centre, and the foremost bioethics body in the UK. We are on a mission to embed ethics in decisions regarding biomedicine and heath so that we all benefit.

For over thirty years we have tackled some of the most complex and controversial bioethical issues facing society. We are funded jointly by the Nuffield Foundation, Wellcome and the Medical Research Council.

We aim to inform policy and public debate through timely consideration of the ethical questions raised by biological and medical research so that the benefits to society are realised in a way that is consistent with public values. Our work has led to shifts in public understanding and policy change on topics ranging from assisted reproduction and genome editing to managing the disagreements that arise in the care of critically ill children.
