This full-time post could be worked remotely or on a hybrid basis from our Penryn Campus. This is a full-time Prevention Research Partnership funded post, available on a fixed-term basis from 1st of July 2025 to 30th September 2026.
The post
The Faculty wishes to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to investigate how Urban Green- and Blue-Space (UGBS) can deliver equitable health benefits as part of the Prevention Research Partnership funded ‘Groundswell’ project. We are focusing on the role of different forms of UGBS decision-making and policy and will be conducting case study research using a realist approach asking who is involved (or not), what processes and tools are used, and how we can make UGBS decision making more inclusive. The successful candidate will join a friendly team at Exeter’s European Centre for Environment and Human Health in Cornwall, working closely with leading academics at Liverpool, Queens Belfast, Glasgow and Edinburgh, as well as with a wide variety of stakeholders from National and Local government, 3rd sector, and communities.
About you
Applicants will possess a relevant PhD or equivalent qualification/experience in a field of study relevant to the research project, with demonstrable experience and sufficient specialist knowledge in public health, planning and/or environment-related policy and decision making to contribute to the Groundswell programme. Applicants will have experience or knowledge of research approaches such as realist evaluation, or other related designs used to understand complex systems, and of case study and qualitative methods. The successful applicant will be able to work collaboratively, and may, depending on experience, be required to supervise the work of others. The case studies will be in Edinburgh and Liverpool so ability to spend some time in both cities is desirable.
The successful applicant will be able to develop research objectives, projects and proposals; identify sources of research funding and contribute to the process of securing funds and make presentations at conferences and other events.
