Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting for the Manutaki Tuarua - Deputy Director, International to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis. This key position will drive the University's international engagement to achieve ambitious growth in student enrolments and outbound mobility, expand transnational education offerings, and enhance the efficiency and quality of service delivery throughout the student lifecycle.
Key responsibilities include the following:
- Leading high-performing and collaborative teams who are professional and consistently achieve admissions, conversion, and enrolment targets. Team members are provided with the leadership, support and resources that will enable them to be effectively fulfil their roles
- Robust and strategic WUI plans are developed and delivered effectively, and targets are set using quality data and market intelligence
- High quality and accurate information and advice is provided on all areas of responsibility. Staff performance is optimised, and targets are achieved
- Establish the University's reputation for international education by becoming acknowledged as a centre of excellence through high profile and distinctive initiatives, public and thought leadership, research, and other initiatives
- Ensuring that the appropriate outcomes related to the areas of responsibility are met of the Education (Pastoral Care of Tertiary and International Learners) Code of Practice 2021
The Manutaki Tuarua - Deputy Director, International deputises for the Manutaki - Director, International in periods of travel or leave. International travel is required for the role.

You will:
- Posess deep knowledge of the international education, and experience in working successfully with diverse groups including academic and professional staff
- Possess a high level of EQ, able to engage at all levels with passion, clarity, and confidence
- Possess deep knowledge of the global education environment, including priority countries’ education systems and TNE
- Have strong experience in leading and managing high performing, multi-disciplinary teams.
- Have extensive experience leading and managing internationalisation programmes, initiatives, market development and business planning.
