Full-time, fixed-term (30 months)
Leeds Beckett University has a fantastic opportunity to deliver an exciting and innovative Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) project to transform learning, decision-making and critical factory-floor operations, embedding a cultural shift within Abraham Moon & Sons Ltd (Moon), a Leeds-based premium textile manufacturer, producing and selling cloth from a single site for 188 years.
This exciting role is supported by a multi-disciplinary team of academic experts from Leeds Beckett University who will support you to:
Confident communication, project management skills and a curious mindset are essential. In addition to the logical mindset required to capture the 95 operational processes which exist in the business, a creative and sensitive approach will anticipate the cultural impact, and the successful candidate will consider the wider impact of curating knowledge, not just their own process view. The ability to deeply understand and accurately document manufacturing operations so that improvement and standardisation opportunities can be identified. Balancing people-centric, as well as technical, aspects will ensure the project success.
Equally important will be the ability to understand, develop and embed succession and progression planning strategies within Moon, requiring sensitive communication of complex information to multiple stakeholders. Embedding of learning and development, continuous improvement and behavioral practices will be needed.
You will be based full-time at the company premises and you will be welcomed as an integral part of the Moon team.
We need an enthusiastic, self-motivated person bringing a Bachelor’s degree (2.1 or higher) Management Science / Business Analysis / Project Management / Engineering Management / Process Engineering. Preference will be given to an associate who also has a higher level professional or academic qualification in a related area.
You will need prior experience in a process/manufacturing environment and evidence of designing and/or delivering learning and development solutions. An interest in the heritage of UK manufacturing, broad IT skills and a creative mindset are desirable criteria.
You will exhibit credible project management capabilities in order to manage a multi-faceted project. You will be well supported by academic experts at Leeds Beckett and colleagues at Moon but you need to be curious, excited about the project challenges and prepared to involve yourself in all aspects of a business.
