We are now seeking a visionary and committed Christian leader to become our new Director of Ministerial Formation and Development.

We are based in South London and serve a diverse, global student body. We are a Christ-centred, evangelical college in the Baptist tradition with a national reach and international impact.

The Role

The Director of Ministerial Formation and Development will oversee, guide and deliver the College’s ministerial formation, training and education programmes. The role includes teaching ministerial units, coordinating student placements, liaising with Baptist Union and Association partners, and ensuring the highest ministerial standards are met. As a key member of the Senior Management Team, the Director will contribute to the strategic development and academic leadership of the College.

Essential Criteria

  • Hold a Master’s degree in Theology
  • Be working towards or hold a doctorate in theology.
  • A practising Baptist minister with a mature Christian faith
  • Experience in theological education and ministerial training
  • Strong leadership, organisational, and teaching skills
  • Experience with academic administration and church partnerships
  • Ability to affirm the Basis of Faith of the Evangelical Alliance and the Declaration of Principle of the Baptist Union of Great Britain

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience of research supervision and charity governance
  • Understanding of regulatory frameworks (OFS, QAA, HESA)
  • A creative and innovative approach to leadership and education

Terms and Benefits

  • Salary: circa £51,500 per annum
  • Pension: Defined contribution scheme
  • Annual Leave: 30 days plus public holidays
  • Research leave available after four years
  • Location: On-site, Spurgeon’s College, South Norwood, London
  • Visa sponsorship available if required
  • There is an Occupational Requirement that the postholder is a Christian (Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9, Part 1)
