About The Department
Goldsmiths’ Confucius Institute for Dance and Performance is not only a part of the Goldsmiths academic life, it is also part of a network of 500 Confucius Institutes globally. It was the first Confucius Institute in the world dedicated to dance and the performing arts. Its aims are the teaching of academic Chinese language and Chinese studies, Chinese performing arts and culture. It partners with a number of renowned universities in China including Capital Normal University and Beijing Dance Academy.

About The Role
You will take a leading administrative role in delivering departmental projects and activities including annual events such as Chinese New Year and Confucius Day, performances, exhibitions, conferences and outreach activities. You will also support all aspects of course administration and liaison with partner institutions in China in relation to future collaborations and ongoing student studies. The role also involves the provision of support to the CI Director, assisting with diary management and secretarial duties.

You are required to work on campus most of the time, with some flexibility upon agreement with the Director.

About The Candidate
You will be a self-motivator - extremely well organized with excellent time management skills - who is comfortable working in a fast-moving environment and to tight deadlines. You will also enjoy working both independently without supervision or as part of a small team. Prior administrative experience within an academic environment and people management skills are among our essential requirements while a knowledge of Mandarin and an interest in Chinese art and culture would be preferred.
