Previous security experience is not necessary – a caring attitude is.  Our primary aim is the support and welfare of students and staff.  All other elements of the role can be learnt, and training will be provided.

The postholder will be responsible for matters relating to:

• The safety and welfare of students, staff and visitors.
• The security of university buildings and other property on and off campus.
• The protection of personal property of students, staff and visitors.
• The control of traffic and parking.

A full driving licence is an essential requirement as the successful candidate will be required to drive university security vehicles on patrol.

Job Purpose
To deploy as a member of the university security function, your main duties will be to provide uniformed patrols on a shift pattern of twelve-hours, starting at 6 pm and ceasing at 6am.

The 5 week shift pattern is as follows:

Week 1 – working Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Week 2 – working Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Week 3 – no duties.

Week 4 – no duties.

Week 5 – working a 6 hour shift on Wednesday only, hours to be confirmed.

Patrols will involve foot, cycle, and use of vehicles, responding to incidents on university property, and will include responsibilities away from the University site either involving students or as part of other contracted security responsibilities.

Safety of the staff and students is our priority, in addition to ensuring the safety and welfare of all people connected with or visiting the University, the protection of university property and the regulation of vehicle movement on and around the University site.
