St Hilda’s College invites applications for the post of Stipendiary Lecturer in Applied Mathematics from 1 October 2025. No salaried University post is associated with this Lectureship. 

Candidates should either be undertaking, or already hold, a doctorate in Mathematics (or closely related subject suitable for the duties of the post) with the ability to provide tutorial teaching for Mathematics in the courses listed in the further particulars and evidence of excellence, or the potential for excellence, in undergraduate teaching. 

The post-holder will be expected to provide three contact hours’ tutorial teaching each week averaged across the 24 weeks of term (each year), to set and mark collections (college examinations) and to deliver revision classes. The appointee will also share the responsibility, with Mathematics Fellows Prof. Andrea Mondino and Dr Robin Thompson, for Mathematics within the College, including (but not limited to) pastoral care, beginning and end of term meetings, and admissions. 

The salary for the post is £8,284 (point 1) to £8,746 (point 3) per annum (current rates) according to experience and qualifications, and membership of the USS pension scheme is offered. There is also a research allowance (payable against receipts) of £315 per annum. The Lecturer will be entitled to five meals per week (either lunch or dinner) free of charge during weeks 0 to 9 of each term, with additional out-of-term entitlements, for example during the admissions period. The Lecturer will have the use of a shared teaching room in College. They will be a member of the Senior Common Room at St Hilda’s College.
