Pre-Degree Specialist Student Support Worker

24 hours per week, 36 weeks per year (Term-time only) - Permanent

Working Location - Palace Court

Arts University Plymouth is seeking to appoint a Specialist Student Support worker in our Pre-Degree campus, where they will be required to provide assistance to students with disabilities and/or special educational needs. Our Pre-Degree campus is a fast paced environment where we deliver Arts courses across a variety of disciplines.  

The successful candidate will have an in-depth understanding of the needs of students with a variety of disabilities, including Autism, ADHD and Social, Emotional and Mental Health. We will also require you to build strong, trusting relationships with our students, to encourage their success and achievement. 

You will have a flexible, positive and ‘can do’ approach, along with effective communication and organisation skills - an ability to be emotionally resilient is a major part of this role. It is expected that this role will work 4 days per week, starting at 9am and finishing at 4pm. Furthermore, it is anticipated that the role will start from the 1st of September 2025.

About You:

  • You will have previous experience of supporting students with SEN needs. 
  • You will be able to demonstrate good communication and organisational skills.
  • You will be able to be flexible, working across all the Pre Degree courses supporting students with SEN needs.
  • You will be able to demonstrate good IT and administration skills.

About The Role:

  • Provide support across the Pre-Degree courses for students with SEN needs, including one to one/small group support in accordance with individual student needs and course criteria.
  • Supporting students to develop strategies & coping mechanisms to manage their difficulties and overcome their barriers to learning.  
  • To work with academic teams to ensure that support provided is appropriate & in line with curriculum requirements.
