About us
Research is core to King’s, what we do, what we care about and how we educate. Our enquiry-driven research delivers transformative insights with the power to advance and accelerate global progress. We work across disciplines and collaborate with partners so that our research changes practice and influences understanding at home and abroad.
The Pre-Award International team is a part of the Research Grants & Contracts Division which sits within the Research Management & Innovation Directorate and is a dedicated support function for every aspect of research funding.
The Pre-award International Team supports the research community at King’s College London across all faculties and is responsible for all research grant applications to the European Commission, US government and overseas research councils. The team supports research grant applications, award set-up, and contractual requirements such as grant agreements, collaboration agreements and subcontracts.
About the role
A unique opportunity to be an integral member of the International Pre-Award Team has come up at King’s College London. We are looking for an individual who can provide an efficient and effective pre-contractual service for staff based across all of King’s College London who are engaged in research, with expertise in five key areas:
The postholder will work pro-actively and independently within the context of existing College policy and strategy and will be expected to contribute to the development of these over time. The post-holder will also have responsibility to negotiate agreements on behalf of the College and become independently expert at drafting research collaboration contracts over time.
King’s has a hybrid working policy and the post will primarily be based at Lavington Street, which is part of the Guy’s Campus, however flexibility is required to be at any Campus where needed. Flexibility with regards to location of work will therefore be required.
Candidates should have experience of supporting grant applications, preferably in a university environment. Experience of advising on project budgets is desirable but not essential. This role will be subject to developments and adaptations according to institutional needs. Resilience and capacity to adapt in a constantly changing environment is an essential part of the role.
Applicants also require excellent organisational, communication, negotiation and literacy skills, proven decision-making ability and be able to work well under pressure, both individually and as part of a team.
This is a full time post, and you will be offered a fixed term contract for 12 months.
