The post
The Faculty wishes to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Associate to support the work of Prof. Maria Rosaria Marsico and Dr. Julian Londono. This UKRI Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council UKRI Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council funded post is available from 15-09-2025 to 31-05-2026. The research will explore the sustainability credentials of a new material made of engineered recycled rubber from aged tyres, thereby creating a pathway to convert waste into a commercialisable sustainable product.
The successful applicant will manufacture prototypes, conduct dynamic tests and assess the sustainability credentials.
The post will include collaborating with the Graphene Centre and Dynamic Lab Research.
About you
The successful applicant will be able to present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically and prepare proposals and applications to external bodies.
Applicants will possess a relevant PhD (or nearing completion) or possess an equivalent qualification/experience in engineering, or materials science or manufacturing, and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes. Applicants will be able to perform experimental tests, analyse results and write scientific journal papers.
