Faculty / Directorate
Fine Art at De Montfort University sits within the Visual Arts Department, in the School of Art, Design and Architecture, in the Faculty of Arts, Design and Humanities. Consisting of three distinct but inter-related areas - Photography, Fine Art and Foundation in Art and Design, we are well equipped to foster dynamic cross-disciplinary dialogue and practice.
Role
The School of Art, Design and Architecture is seeking to add to its pool of highly qualified and experienced teaching staff, to contribute to the delivery of our BA (Hons) Fine Art and, possibly, other programmes in the Visual Arts Subject Area. We have an exciting opportunity for suitably qualified individuals to work as a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Fine Art.
Main responsibilities will include module leadership, delivery of lectures, tutorials, workshops, assessment, student attendance monitoring and related administration. All activities will be delivered on the Leicester DMU campus. Actual hours and days will be described in a timetable which will be planned in advance of the teaching block.
This role is on a part time (0.5FTE), permanent basis.
Ideal Candidate
We are seeking talented people who are specialists in painting and can deliver teaching in practical modules but may be required to deliver teaching or tutorials in art historical/theoretical, and/or professional practices in all areas of fine art as expanded practice. Potential primary teaching areas include but are not limited to: all stages of painting and drawing practical sessions. Potential secondary teaching areas include but are not limited to: art history and critical theory, professional practices/entrepreneurial skills, community engaged practice, sculpture, or digital arts (AR/VR and immersive technologies).
