Senior Lecturer Positions in Statistics

We are looking for two new lecturers (permanent, T&R) in statistics to join us in our drive towards further developing our profile in modern statistical techniques, in the Department of Statistics at Stockholm University. We have a strong tradition in sampling but areas that we are growing in include, but are not limited to, Bayesian inference, the intersection of statistics and machine learning, statistics for the social and behavioural sciences, design of experiments, and statistical network analysis. 

The first lectureship is in general statistics and the second is specifically designed to contribute to building our profile in modern computational statistics and statistical machine learning, as exemplified in our new joint Master’s programme with Computer Science. 

In the position you are entitled to a minimum of 30% research time (exclusive of PhD supervision - every student gives you an additional 5% fraction), but you are encouraged to apply for further buy-out through external research funding. There is a standard pathway in the faculty for promotion to Docent (roughly associate prof.) and Professor through demonstrating excellence in teaching and research. Applicants for a position will be ranked by independent external reviewers.  

The median monthly salary for a lecturer in the Faculty is SEK 55,200, with starting salary and salary increments being negotiated on an individual basis with HoD. Pension contributions (including the state pension) are on top of the salary. You would be entitled to 28/31/35 days of paid vacation according to age (up to years of age 29/40/above) and the standard, generous Swedish benefits with respect to parental leave, schooling, medical treatment, etc. There are no Swedish language requirements.
