About The Role
This is a Permanent position working full-time.
The post holder will deliver and support diverse research projects within the Medical School especially those undertaken as part of Swansea Trials Unit (STU) and PRIME Centre Wales. STU is a UKCRC registered Clinical Trials Unit (https://swanseatrialsunit.org) and PRIME Centre Wales (https://primecentrewales.yolasite.com) is funded by Health and Care Research Wales. We require a senior statistician with substantial expertise in clinical trials, research methods, analysis of complex studies, health services research, and analysis of linked data.
The role will involve providing statistical, methodological, IT and data management oversight for existing STU and PRIME Centre studies, supervising project funded statisticians/IT specialists/data managers, providing input into strategic STU and PRIME Centre activities and statistical/IT/data management input into the development of new research proposals for funding. The role will involve collaborating with other research infrastructure units within the faculty, including the Swansea Centre for Health Economics (SCHE, https://www.swansea.ac.uk/health-social-care/research/sche/) as well as supporting faculty academics and NHS and social care staff to successfully develop and deliver funded projects.
The postholder will contribute to teaching and project supervision on undergraduate and postgraduate programmes (e.g. https://www.swansea.ac.uk/undergraduate/courses/medicine/population-health-and-medical-sciences-bsc-hons/; https://www.swansea.ac.uk/postgraduate/taught/medicine/health-data-science-msc-pgdip-pgcert/) and share organisational and academic administrative responsibilities that will include reporting to STU and PRIME Centre funders as well as participation in UKCRC and NHS committees as appropriate. The post holder will be essential in ensuring the effective development, conduct, management, and delivery of the STU and PRIME Centre portfolio of high-quality research.

Welsh Language Skills
The Welsh language level required for this role is Level 1 - A little. The role holder will be able to pronounce Welsh words, answer the phone in Welsh (good morning/afternoon) and use very basic everyday words and phrases (thank you, please etc.). Level 1 can be reached by completing a 1 hour course.
