Applications are invited for a permanent or temporary 3 year post of a Lecturer/Assistant Professor in Grass and Forage Science with Emphasis on Sustainable Food Systems within UCD School of Agriculture & Food Science.

Applications are invited for the post of Lecturer/Assistant Professor in Grass and Forage Science, with a particular emphasis on sustainability within agri-food systems. This role, based in the UCD School of Agriculture & Food Science, will support undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, research, and wider engagement in sustainable grass and forage production for environmentally resilient and economically viable food systems. The appointee will join a dynamic and interdisciplinary team of 18 full-time academics within the Section of Animal & Crop Science, contributing to a shared mission of addressing global food, environmental, and societal challenges through teaching, research, and knowledge exchange in animal and crop production systems.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a demonstrated passion for teaching and research in grassland and forage systems, especially in the context of sustainable agriculture and food systems. The successful candidate will hold a PhD in Agricultural Science or a closely related discipline, with a strong focus on grassland/forage science and ideally with research interests that intersect with environmental sustainability, climate adaptation, soil health, or circular bioeconomy principles. In addition to a strong research profile, the appointee should demonstrate excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills and a commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration. The role will involve meaningful contributions to School and University initiatives that support the transition to more sustainable food systems, including climate-smart agriculture, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable land use.

Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines
