The University of Oxford’s Heritage Innovations Lab (HILO) is seeking a talented and driven researcher to join a groundbreaking conservation project based at Blenheim Palace.

Working under the supervision of Professor Heather Viles and Dr Sterling Mackinnon, the successful candidate will be an integral part of an interdisciplinary team developing digital twinning and data-driven conservation strategies. The role involves leading aspects of research design and data analysis, contributing to publications and stakeholder engagement, and mentoring junior team members.

This is a unique opportunity to work at the cutting edge of heritage science, applying advanced modelling techniques to real-world conservation challenges in collaboration with high-profile partners such as Blenheim Palace. This full-time, 6-month fixed-term post (starting 1st September 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter) will focus on predictive modelling of moisture and stone deterioration in historic buildings.
