British Management University was established in 2020 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan’s vibrant capital. The university offers high-quality British education, with programmes in Business, Management, and related fields. These are validated through partnerships with the University of Reading and Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh. Our current student body is 1000+ and our purpose-built campus, opened in 2023, offers state-of-the-art facilities and easy access to the city centre.

The Foundation Year Programme (Year 1 of university studies) prepares students for academic success at university and is validated by the University of Reading. It combines skills development with subject-specific modules, all delivered in English.

We seek an English Language Instructor / Senior Instructor to join our dedicated teaching team for International English, reporting to the Director of Studies for English. Students range from B1+ to C1 level upon entry and are streamed into 3 levels accordingly. The course blends English for Academic Purposes and Professional purposes, with a focus on intercultural, interpersonal, and 21st century skills development. This full-time position with a teaching load of 18 hours per week is available from September 2025.

Responsibilities:

  • Teaching International English classes in the Foundation Year Programme
  • Participating in extracurricular support programmes through the Academic Success Centre, such as tutoring and delivering workshops
  • Supporting the Director of Studies in developing assessments and ensuring the quality of all modules
  • Monitoring students’ progress and helping them succeed in their studies
  • Maintaining a friendly and supportive work and learning environment

Minimum requirements for Instructor

  • A Master’s degree in TESOL, ELT, or Applied Linguistics
  • Or DELTA certification
  • Or CELTA certification and a bachelor’s degree in English, Education, Linguistics, Central Asian Studies/Languages, or related field
  • Ideally minimum 2 years of teaching experience with demonstrated outstanding teaching skills
  • Personal qualities: positive, emotionally intelligent, hard-working, diplomatic, willing to share knowledge, and committed to the language teaching profession 

Minimum requirements for Senior Instructor

  • As above, plus:
  • Ideally minimum 5 years of teaching experience with at least 2 years at tertiary level
  • Ability to contribute teaching for Master’s TESOL programme (currently in development)
  • Demonstrated outstanding teaching skills and experience with creating materials and designing assessments 

Desirable experience

  • Previous experience of teaching at university level
  • Some experience in course planning and material design
  • Familiarity with the conventions and norms of the UK Higher Education system
  • Qualifications and/or experience in assessment design and language testing would be especially advantageous
  • Some knowledge of Uzbek or Russian language is desirable but not required. All academic activities are conducted in English.
