Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research position within the DCU School of History and Geography. The postdoctoral researcher will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the ‘Diaspora Diplomacy and the Migration-Development Nexus’ project, led by Dr Jonathan Harris, and funded by Research Ireland.  Of the three empirical studies (Brazilian, Indian, Algerian diasporas), they will focus on the Brazilian case.

Salary Scale:

IUA Postdoctoral Researcher Salary Scale, Level 2 - €45,847 - €58,479

Appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and in line with current Government pay policy

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not restricted to, the following:

The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the project, which will entail a wide variety of opportunities and responsibilities as directed by the project lead:

• Primary research in the context of the “Diaspora Diplomacy and the Migration-Development Nexus” project
• Preparation of articles for peer-review publication (co-author, first-author and single-author)
• Attending and presenting at academic conferences
• Management of a public project website with a monthly blog
• Project administration, including but not limited to ethics applications and reporting, advisory group coordination, data management and processing
• The coordination of public impact and engagement activities
• Curriculum development for diplomatic training
• Undergraduate teaching and postgraduate supervision for the purposes of professional development, not exceeding four direct contact hours per week.
