Geography and Environment
Full-time and fixed-term from 1st September 2025 until 31st August 2026.
Applications are invited for the position of University Teacher in Human Geography at Loughborough University. This post has been made available due to a major externally funded fellowship for a senior member of staff. Loughborough is recognised nationally and internationally for its excellence in teaching, research and enterprise. The School has an investment strategy to develop cross-disciplinary studies based around its core strengths and is in a strong financial and student recruitment position.
We are seeking applications from outstanding candidates to deliver teaching on the Loughborough Geography and Environment suite of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes with a particular interest and expertise in Human Geography. Specific expertise in human geography/social science methods, as well as an ability to teach across a range of human geography themes would be advantageous.
The candidate must have experience of teaching and will contribute to the development and delivery of undergraduate (BA, BSc) and postgraduate (MA, MSc) modules such as ‘Social and Cultural Geography’ and ‘Geographical Research: Design and Practice’. Support of other areas of the curriculum will be required, and a willingness to engage in fieldwork and residential fieldcourses is expected.
Candidates are expected to have a PhD in human geography or a closely related discipline and the clear potential to contribute to the University Strategy of ‘Creating Better Futures. Together’ in a high-performing HE environment.
