We are seeking to appoint a Research Fellow to join the Department of Health Services Research and Policy to work a study called Timeliness of access to Cancer Treatment - improving care (TACTIC) https://fundingawards.nihr.ac.uk/award/NIHR168433, a NIHR-funded collaborative research project. The post-holder will join a team with expertise in statistics, cancer epidemiology and health services research and will report to the PI, Professor Richard Grieve, and Co-Is, Professors Ruth Keogh and Kate Walker.
Applicants should have a postgraduate degree, ideally a PhD, in medical statistics, epidemiology, health economics or a related field. Relevant experience in applying regression models to complex forms of observational data, and of applying causal inference approaches to health data are essential. Experience of analysing time-to-event outcomes is desirable. This role offers an unusual opportunity for an early career researcher with strong statistical skills to develop their career and undertake advanced analyses within a major study of direct policy and clinical relevance.
The post is full-time 35 hours per week, 1.0 FTE and fixed term until 31 August 2028. The post is funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) and is available from 01 September 2025.
The salary will be on the LSHTM salary scale, Grade 6 in the range £45,097 - £51,156 per annum pro rata (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at LSHTM.
